Workshop: Student Government and Academic Organizations as Entities Operating in Conflict Situations

Description Student and doctoral student councils and organizations have many opportunities to look after the interests of their members. Utilizing this potential is easier when relationships within the organization are properly built, communication is transparent and safe, and values and goals are shared and as non-conflicting as possible. However, this is an ideal situation, that rarely occurs in the real world. The workshop will focus on examining how the organization communicates internally and externally, especially in conflict situations. It is addressed to leaders in the student and doctoral community: those involved in council work and chairpersons of organizations and scientific clubs. The workshop will provide knowledge on ways to communicate in conflicts (both overt and covert).

The seminar will be conducted by Dr. Agnieszka Bielska-Brodziak, Professor at the University of Silesia, Student and Doctoral Student Rights Ombudsman at the University of Silesia.
