Description | Law – even the best law – is not enough to properly protect the interests of students and doctoral candidates. Its effectiveness at the University is often more dependent on the individual competencies of particular individuals or relationships between them than on the strict “letter of the law.” On the one hand, the law works more effectively in relationships built on transparent and safe communication; on the other hand, it works where individuals feel or are empowered, courageous, engaged, ready to take responsibility, and capable of abandoning their own comfort for the sake of both struggle and compromise. This applies particularly to conflict situations. The lecture will be devoted to reflecting on these very aspects of law application.
The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Agnieszka Bielska-Brodziak, Professor at the University of Silesia, Student and Doctoral Student Rights Ombudsman at the University of Silesia. |
