Description | This workshop provides an interdisciplinary examination of the pervasive issue of bias in AI systems, with a particular emphasis on gender biases. Participants will familiarise themselves with foundational concepts of AI, examine real-world instances of biased AI applications, and learn methodologies for detecting and mitigating bias. Special attention will be given to how AI systems can perpetuate gender stereotypes and inequalities. Through interactive discussions and hands-on activities, the workshop aims to equip academics with the critical skills necessary to assess and address biases in AI technologies. By fostering a collaborative learning environment, the workshop emphasises the importance of ethical considerations, inclusive practices, and the promotion of gender equality in the development and deployment of AI systems. |
