Dr. Marloes Cornelissen Aydemir is a historian and currently works as an instructor of Social and Political Science Freshman courses with a focus on Humanity and Society at Sabanci University in Istanbul, Turkey, where she was also awarded her PhD. She is a member of the Foundation Development Directorate. Previously she has worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Leiden Institute for Area Studies at Leiden University. Her areas of interest are early modern history of the Ottoman Empire, cultural history, consumption culture and material culture. Her research interests currently focus on the material culture of diplomacy. She has a particular interest in the creation of student-centered exercises that incorporate historical primary source material.

Jan Folkert Deinum is a senior educational advisor at the University of Groningen. In the past years he was responsible for the support team for online education at that university during the COVID pandemic. His research interest is on professional development of university teachers, academic leadership and Learning Analytics. Concerning the latter he is responsible for implementing Learning Analytics in his university to provide for all kinds of decision makers, from students and teachers to study advisors and senior management educational data in a manner that suits the decision making on each of these levels. Emre Erol is an assistant professor of history at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Sabancı University (Istanbul). He is also the director of the Foundations Development Program that coordinates Sabancı University’s core-curriculum program. He completed his Ph.D. at Leiden University’s School of Middle Eastern Studies and his M.A. (history) and his undergraduate studies (political sciences) at Sabanci University. His doctoral dissertation is published as a book titled The Ottoman Crisis in Western Anatolia / Turkey’s Belle Époque and the Transition to a Modern Nation State by I.B. Tauris in 2016. He worked at the various campuses of the University of Leiden between 2009 – 2016. He contributed to the School of Middle Eastern Studies, the International Studies and the International Honours College of Leiden University at The Hague (LUC). Rick Huizinga serves as an educational specialist and (university) teacher trainer at the University of Groningen (Netherlands). His main work involves applying current research on teacher development in practical programmes in order to support individual teachers through coaching, observation, and training. This involves designing programmes such as the University Teaching Qualification and Senior Teaching Qualification at the UG as well for the Masters of Didactics programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in Poland. Prior to his work in Groningen, Rick led the university-wide intercultural education efforts at Emory University (USA). He began his career in South Korea as Head Teacher for the University of Minnesota’s center in Seoul before moving on to related positions in the United States, Korea, and Finland. Jolanta Jastrząb is Full Professor of fine arts, affiliated with the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice since its very beginning; supervisor of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies at the Academy; coordinator of the Silesian art therapy programme (University of Silesia, Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, Academy of Music in Katowice). As a visual artist she has been implementing art projects in therapeutic activities since 2010. Her most recent research concerns the strategies of diagnosis and verification in art therapy activities through visual arts as well as the incorporation of fine art-based creative activity into the therapeutic process itself. She is the innovator of a nationally innovative method of artification-based creative activation for senior citizens.

Ksawery Kaliski – graduated with honours from the Faculty of Graphic Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice in 2002. In 2013, he received a doctor of arts degree for his interactive work using artificial intelligence PR•OR•OK. In 2020, he was awarded the postdoctoral degree in arts. He is Head of the Department of New Media at his alma mater. Since 2003, he has been running Artmediale, a company dealing with design, sculpture and multimedia art. He collaborates with designers, computer scientists and musicians on advanced multimedia projects related to interactive space and original interfaces. For UNESCO, he created the of the multimedia presentation Memory of Poland – Memory of the World. He is the author of the concept of the interactive Chopin Museum in Warsaw and the concept of the interactive exhibition of the new rooms in Wieliczka Salt Mine (UNESCO). As part of the international art+science collection, he created the interactive installation EON for the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw. He is also an author of the mapping of the thematic spaces of the permanent exhibition of the Silesian Pantheon in the Archcathedral in Katowice (together with Roman Kalarus). He has created numerous leads and animations for cinema and television films
Yuki Kaneko is an astrophysicist and an instructor at the Foundations Development Directorate at Sabancı University. She teaches and coordinates freshman science courses within the core curriculum of the University. She received PhD in physics from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and worked as a research associate in the U.S. After coming to Turkey, she taught at a high school for gifted students before joining Sabancı University in 2009. Her research interests are high-energy astrophysical phenomena as well as science education, and she also offers various training/workshops in college-level STEM education with active-learning approaches in higher education.

Zsófia Kollányi holds an MA and PhD degree in Social Policy Analysis from Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Budapest, and an MSc in Economics from Corvinus University, Budapest. She has been teaching health and health policy-related classes as well as economics at the Faculty of Social Sciences, ELTE for about ten years. Her main areas of professional interest are social and health inequalities, the complexity of health and the challenge of how to channel all these aspects into policy making. Dominika Kowynia is associate professor in the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. She works at the Faculty of Arts, Department of Painting, where for the last year she has been running a diploma studio. Her medium is painting, in which she combines autobiographical and literary motifs, as well as narrations concerning the surrounding political and social reality. In 2010 he received the Gdynia Literary Award in the “essay” category for his book Ciała Sienkiewicza. Studies on gender and violence. He has also published: To Conquer History. The Problem of Representation in The Face of the Moon by Teodor Parnicki (1999), Marking the Grass or the Practice of Philology (2011), Thinking Well with Literature (2016) and Many Titles (2019). He compiled an edition of Theodor Parnicky’s novel Only Beatrice in the National Library series (2004). Professor Koziołek chaired the Nike Literary Award in 2015 and was a member of the jury of the award from 2012 to 2015. In 2016 his book Thinking Well with Literature was honoured with the Silesian Literary Laurel. In 2017, he received the Kazimierz Wyka Award for outstanding achievements in essay writing and literary and artistic criticism. Doctor of social sciences in the discipline of management and quality sciences (Warsaw University of Technology). Conducts scientific research in the field of higher education management, innovative forms of education, e-learning, project management. Co-founder and president of the Young Science Foundation. Until recently, at the Warsaw University of Technology, she acted as Plenipotentiary of the Rector for the Development of Innovative Forms of Education and headed the Department of Innovation Development of Young Scientists. From 2013 to 2015, she was Head of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Training Programme in Missile Technology at Warsaw University of Technology. She was also Vice-Chairwoman of the Council of Young Scientists (3rd and 4th terms, 2012-2015), Chairwoman of the National Representation of Doctoral Students (2010-2011) and of the Warsaw Alliance of Doctoral Students (2009).
Edyta is the Director of the Internationalisation Office at the University of Economics in Katowice. For the last 20 years she has been committed to various activities related to the internationalisation process of higher education institutions. She has coordinated and been involved in many international projects involving universities, graduates and employers. She is also a co-founder and board member of the Silesian Universities Network (SUN).

Lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice in the Illustration Studio and Visual Information Studio, and at the Faculty of Arts of Ostrava University in the Graphic Design Studio. Her achievements include the development of a system of documents for the course of studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, the project New Court Forms , ie., a set of interactive infographics and templates of legal documents, carried out in cooperation with the INPRIS institute and the Association of Friends of Integration, and visualizations of the budget of Katowice in 2016-2022.
Since 2019 she has been the supervisor of Michal Justycki’s doctoral thesis. This experience has allowed her to gain a better understanding of Deaf Culture and also to engage in universal design education. As a result of cooperation between students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice and the Deaf community, a number of works have been created to support communication between hearing and deaf people. The works were presented, among others, in the Silesian Museum in Katowice in 2020 as part of the Art of Connecting Festival.
Art critic and theoretician. Author of more than 250 publications in magazines, books and websites, as well as of several hundred exhibition projects in galleries in Poland and abroad. Author of the monograph The Passage Effect. Confrontations and Negotiations of Identity in Contemporary Artistic Practices (Katowice 2018). In his theoretical activity, he is particularly concerned with the anthropology of identity and subjectivity and its iconographic depiction in the world of contemporary art.

Dr. Lukasz Machura is an associate professor at the University of Silesia in Katowice. He has participated in a number of projects popularizing programming skills addressed to both university and high school students (From Algorithm to Professional, pRobot, CyberMil). He was the leader of the CC Infinite project (Computing Competences. Innovative learning approach for non-IT students). He is one of the main originators of the interdisciplinary course Digital Communication, which has been successfully implemented at the University of Silesia since 2020. He has many years of experience in teaching programming to both science and humanities students, having developed and taught courses in programming, algorithms, time series analysis or numerical methods.
Dr. Anna Machwic
She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. In 2010 she received a PhD in the field of art: fine arts. Since 2003 she has been teaching design to students, and since 2013 she has been in charge of the Illustration Studio at her alma mater.
Children’s books are her passion and area of academic interest. She took part in international conferences, including European Art of Illustration in Warsaw (2009), Think(in) Visual Communication in Warsaw (2014), Illustration Research in Krakow (2012), and Laughter in Visual Communication in Warsaw (2016). She has run workshops and given lectures on illustration at home and abroad, including the North Wale School of Art and Design in Wrexham (UK) and the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp (Belgium).
She is involved in promoting worthwhile children’s books, curating the Well-Designed Book – Let’s Start with Children competition and the accompanying conference Children’s Book – How is it done? These events, organized by the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice since 2008 (every two years), are a review of current trends in book design for the youngest.

Dr. Joanna Maszybrocka is an academic teacher with more than 20 years of professional experience. Her research interests are related to additive manufacturing of advanced materials. Author of more than 60 scientific papers, coordinator of 1 research project, assistant supervisor in two doctoral theses. Since 2011, she has been intensively involved in teaching and organizational activities designed as the University’s response to changes in the social and economic environment. Her activities focus on the selection of teaching methods and techniques to equip graduates with a comprehensive set of skills, combining elements such as materials engineering, mechatronics, computer science, and biomedical engineering with the ability to understand the entire technological process. Dr. Maszybrocka is also involved in the implementation and development of the educational quality assurance system at the University of Silesia.
Co-leader of the Interdisciplinary Activities Studio, area of visual narration and film experimentation. Author of paintings with elements of collage, and of photographs, drawings and films. Graduate of graphic design at the Katowice branch of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow and of painting and film at the Universität für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna. Michal Mierzwa, Ph.D., is an associate professor at the University of Silesia in Katowice, Faculty of Science and Technology. He has participated in a number of didactic projects both as an author of didactic materials and as a supervisor. Content coordinator in the projects “pROBOT”, PiN and “From Algorithm to Professional”, co-author of the textbook and teaching materials in the projects “From Algorithm to Professional”, iCSE, CC-Infinite.
He has developed the concept and curricula for the courses in Applied Informatics and Digital Communication (co-taught with the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Silesia). He serves as Director of study programmes (first and second degree) in physics and as head of doctoral studies in physics.
Marco Navarra, Ph.D. in the sociology of cultural processes, a member of the “Media Culture Society” Study Center at the University of Salerno (the Center is headed by Prof. Gino Frezza). Over the past ten years, he has participated in European research and innovative projects in the fields of lifelong education, digital skills, e-learning, and gender issues. He successfully led the creation of a public-private partnership for the sustainable development of the Campania region. He is a lecturer on cultural planning and project management at Italian and foreign institutions.
The Chairman of the National Representation of Doctoral Students is a graduate of the Inter-Faculty Study of Biotechnology at SGGW in Warsaw. Since 2016, he has been a participant in the Doctoral Studies at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of SGGW and works as a research and teaching assistant at the Center for Translational Medicine of SGGW. He received an award in the Young Inventor category of the Innovation Leader competition for his research on the development of nanoparticle markers for cancer diagnosis in magnetic and fluorescence contrast.
Marcin Pałys graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Warsaw. From 1988 to 1992, he was a doctoral student at the University of Twente in the Netherlands, where he received his doctoral degree in chemistry in 1992. In 2005 he was awarded a post-doctoral degree at at the UW. His scientific activities concern transport phenomena in electrochemical systems and the use of artificial intelligence methods in electrochemistry.
From 1994 to 2010 he worked an assistant professor at the Department of Chemistry, UW and since 2010 he has been working as an associate professor at the UW. He served as Vice Dean of the Department of Chemistry in 2005-2010, 2008-2012, as Vice-rector of the UW, and as Rector of the University of Warsaw in the 2012-2016 and 2016-2020 terms.
He served as vice-chairman of the Conference of Rectors of Polish Universities (KRASP, 2012-2016), member of the Presidium of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (KRASP, 2012-2020), chairman of the Committee on Organization and Legislation of KRASP (2014-2020) and member of the Committee on Strategic Problems of Higher Education of CRASP (from 2016 to present). In 2016-2020 he chaired the Conference of Rectors of Warsaw Universities. In the current term of 2020-2024, he chairs the Team for European University Networks in CRASP.

Magdalena Półtorak – university lecturer, doctor of legal sciences, director of the study programmes: Entrepreneurship, International Business Law and Arbitration and Environmental Administration. Author and co-author of publications on human rights, gender equality guarantees and vulnerable persons in international law, with a special focus on refugee women. Maria Próchnicka has worked at the Jagiellonian University since 1980, currently as an associate professor. She is a specialist in the field of information science. The areas of her research are related to information systems design, information user behavior, and information management. For two terms from 2012 to 2020, she served as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Management and Social Communication at the Jagiellonian University. She has extensive experience in didactics management and in managing the processes of ensuring and improving the quality of education, having served, among others, as Vice-Dean for Didactics at the Faculty of Management and Social Communication, UJ (2012-2016), the head of doctoral studies at the faculty (2008-2012), as well as in directing in the management of didactics projects. In 2013-2014 she headed the project Harmonization of didactic management at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, funded by the National Center for Research and Development, and since 2018 she has been the project manager of ZintegrUJ – Comprehensive Development Program of the Jagiellonian University. At the Jagiellonian University, she took an active part in quality assurance and improvement activities for many years (2008-2016), from 2010 to 2016 as a plenipotentiary of the Jagiellonian University Rector for improving the quality of education. Since 2012 she has been a member of the Polish Accreditation Committee, and since 2016 she has served as Secretary of PKA.

Doctor of Humanities in the field of political science, Doctor of Health Sciences. Associate professor at the Silesian Medical University in Katowice. Head of the Department of Health Policy and the Department of Public Health Policy. From 2017 to 2020 Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Public Health at the Bytom University of Silesia. Since November 2020 Chairman of the Health Sciences Discipline Council of ŚUM. Academically, his main focus is on issues related to the functioning and transformation of health and social security systems, as well as the formulation and evaluation of public health policies.
Andrzej Romanowski graduated from the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the Technical University of Lodz, and subsequently created innovative services and multimedia products for the ICT industry. At the same time his doctoral thesis in the discipline of Information Technology, partly carried out as part of research internships at Leeds University and the University of Manchester in England, was defended with distinction a defense at the Technical University of Lodz. He received his postdoctoral degree in 2019 at the Częstochowa University of Technology. He is the co-founder of Human-Computer Interaction master’s degree program, unique in Central Europe. In this field, he has extensive scientific and educational cooperation with researchers from LMU Munich, Chalmers University of Technology, Harvard University, and National University of Singapore. He has served as president and member of the Lodz Branch of the Polish Computer Society, as well as of the Association for Computing Machinery and ACM SIGCHI Poland Chapter. Andrzej Romanowski is an ambassador of student-centered, project-based and problem-based education and active learning methods. He has implemented a number of international educational projects, including short, intensive forms of education, which he strongly advocates. He is one of the pioneers of the implementation of Problem Based Learning and Design Thinking at the Technical University of Lodz, as well as one of the co-authors of the currently implemented concept of flipped education methods, the so-called Flipped Education at the Technical University of Lodz

Jakub Stelmach – third year graphic design student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. Works in the medium of video, installation, AV live, and interactive installations. In his artistic endeavors, he analyzes the subjective feelings of man juxtaposed with the objective image of the world. He is primarily interested in exploring how different media and senses interact together and how the reception of artistic works changes as a result of their combination. His works usually take spatial form and have the character of recorded improvisation.

Loizos Symeou is Professor of Sociology of Education at the European University of Cyprus. He serves as Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and chairman of the Education Quality Committee. He studied at the University of Cyprus, the University of Sydney in Australia and the University of Cambridge (Wielka Brytania), where he obtained his PhD and was funded by the UK Overseas Research Scholarship (ORS) Award Scheme. He headed the Department of Education at the University of Cyprus (2007-2012) and also served as Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Social and Educational Sciences (2014-2018). His research interests focus on the sociological analysis of school-family-child relationships. His most recent research concerns homework, school experiences of Roma children, and family involvement in higher education. He receives national, European and international grants for his research. He is the author of one monograph and more than one hundred scientific articles and chapters in collective monographs.
Mikołaj Szpaczyński, a graduate in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, currently an assistant at his alma mater and a doctoral student at the Intermedia Faculty of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. Author of films, sculptures and actions in space. In his work he is concerned with going beyond the usual patterns of contact with nature and searching for the non-human perspective. Since 2019, he has been spending most of his free time underground, excavating a cave near his home in Jaworzno.

He held the position of Strategy Director of the OT Logistics Group. He has worked for Polish and international investment funds. As an auditor and strategic advisor associated with Ernst & Young, MDDP and ITSG, he supervised many consulting, financial, legal and IT projects for energy companies, banks and State Treasury companies. He coordinated a bond issue project on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. He successfully worked for his client in the process of privatisation of Gdańsk ports.
Şükrü Talaş – Professor employed at the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Afyon Kocatepe University, Turkey. Professor Talaş graduated from Marmara University, then Brunel University (University of West London), and obtained his PhD from the University of Leeds on the basis of his dissertation on microstructural studies of steel alloys. He did his post-doc studies at Middle East Technical University (Turkey), Medical College of Georgia (USA) and University of Calgary (Canada). Professor Talaş has authored a number of publications in the field of metallurgy and teaches undergraduate, masters and doctoral courses.
He works at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice as an associate professor. Since its foundation in 2009 he has led the Interdisciplinary Activities Studio, whose original curriculum teaches the use of the widely understood visual language. He is the initiator of many artistic projects and curator of exhibitions. He is active in painting, installation art, video art and realizes site-specific works. In his work, he analyses the urban environment and studies the influence of architecture on the behaviour of its users. As part of his artist-in-residencies, he researched the residential areas of Cairo, Cleveland, Detroit, Northern England. In 2016, he was a Kosciuszko Foundation Fellow and a visiting professor at Cleveland State University. He has also lectured at Case Western Reserve University, Youngstown State University, and Missouri State University. He has presented his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Europe, South Korea, the United Kingdom, the United States, including Waterloo Arts Gallery, Cleveland (USA), Platform A Gallery, Middlesbrough (UK), Kunsthalle Hannover, Hannover (Germany) and CREA Cantieri del Contemporaneo, Venice.
He helds post-doctoral degree in physical culture sciences. In his scientific activity he studies issues of sport pedagogy in the context of social aspects of undertaking physical activity, dual career of student-athletes and conditions of participation in active tourism. Roderick Vassallo is the Vice-Principal at the Junior College of the University of Malta. Michalina Wawrzyczek-Klasik – PhD in art; assistant professor at the Serigraphy Studio, Faculty of Arts, Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. Visual artist and secret activist.
She works with image, object and text. Her research is guided by the idea of decolonising nature. Since completing a residency at the Spanish Joya Institute: arte + ecologia in 2018, she has been working on her original project ‘The Secret Activism’, which includes all her recent realisations. She collaborates with artists, activists from different parts of the world, focused on issues of ‘deep ecology’ and ‘deep culture’. Together with Dr. Małgorzata Rozenau and Dr. Joanna Zdzienicka-Obałek, she coordinates the activities of the Minus1.artspace gallery in Katowice.
Dr hab. n. pharm. Slawomir Wilczynski, associate professor at SUM. Head of the Department of Fundamental Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medical University of Silesia in Katowice. His scientific interests are focused on modern imaging methods used in medicine and pharmacy. Expert of the National Centre for Research and Development, Member of the Investment Committee in the Bridge Alfa Programme of NCBR, expert of the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy, Medical Research Agency, Polish Accreditation Commission and Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego.

Dr Magdalena Wołek is a philosopher, flutist and pianist. She works as an assistant professor at the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Silesia in Katowice. She is interested in aesthetics and neuroaesthetics, philosophy of art (especially contemporary art), philosophy of music and philosophy of new media. She is a member of the international research group Cult-Media.
She is currently involved in the establishment of the Cognitive Research Laboratory at the University of Silesia. She is an experienced KISM tutor and a participant in many national and international projects related to teaching. Task coordinator at Knowledge of Islands (EEA).
Joanna Wowrzeczka works at the Institute of Visual Arts, University of Silesia. Her research interests revolve around the field of art (to which she dedicated her first doctorate in sociology); her artistic interests focus on socially useful, engaged and inclusive art. She actively participates in the life of the city as an activist and city councilor. Founder of the “Szara” Gallery in Cieszyn (currently run by Joanna Rzepka in Warsaw) and the Common Room of Political Criticism in Cieszyn.
Tytuł: The Elementary Reservoir based on a camouflage net, or common matrix, and hundreds of weaves made by different people is meant to give us a sense of connecting gazes, establishing relationships, mutual support, woven from individual gestures of strong protection.
The effect of joint creation from May 4 to October 11 remained at the weaving site. The Sun, heavy rain, wind, people, and animals worked on it regardless of our will. In Minus1.artspace it is to work further on the terms of the site.
Bartłomiej Wróblewski is a graduate of the Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz, where he completed English philology and postgraduate studies in pedagogy. He is currently working as a coordinator of pedagogical skills development at Charles University in Prague. He also taught at the Institute of Applied Languages at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (Czech Republic), where he specialised in English for Mechanical Engineers. His main area of interest is general didactics, needs analysis and curriculum development. He has participated in a number of international courses to improve teaching skills, e.g. “Teaching Methodology and English Language Development” in Bournemouth (England). Paweł Zakrajewski, English philologist, linguist; in 2015 he received his PhD in the discipline of linguistics. Since the beginning of his research and teaching career, he has been affiliated with the University of Silesia in Katowice. His research interests include various aspects of linguistics, in particular pragmatics, sociolinguistics, specialised languages and critical linguistics. Works at the Department of Environmental Biotechnology at the Silesian University of Technology. Co-founder and director of the Centre for Popularisation of Science at the Silesian University of Technology. Deputy chairman of the Council for the Popularisation of Science, Polish Academy of Sciences and member of the Science Spokesmen Association.
Dr. Agata Zygmunt is a sociologist, assistant professor at the Institute of Sociology, University of Silesia in Katowice, and director of the following study programmes: urban policy and public counselling, sociology, social work, human resources management. She is an accredited academic tutor. Her research interests include issues in the sociology of social problems, demography and social policy.
